Qigong

Qigong uses a combination of somatic meditation, breathwork, movement therapy, and self-massage for health and to achieve performance and longevity. It is a cultivation practice which employs the Three Regulations of posture (body), breath (qi), and mind (spirit) to begin the alchemical process of harmonization and transformation of the Five Shen (Viscera, Wujingshen) (Lung, Heart, Liver, Spleen, Kidneys) and the Three Treasures (Jing, Qi, Shen) for greater health, performance, and longevity. Qigong internal training will enhance your body’s ability to recover from illness, resolve trauma, restore health, build immunity, assimilate and eliminate food/drink/experience and more. Qi means “subtle breath”, Gong means “work or skill.”

“Qigong has the capacity to affect multiple human biological systems: 1) Ideally improving and regulating the functions of the nervous system. 2) Ideally improving and regulating the functions of the circulatory system. 3) Ideally improving and regulating the functions of the respiratory system. 4) Ideally improving and regulating the functions of the digestive system. 5) Ideally improving and regulating the functions of the endocrine system. 6) The capacity to affect changes in the muscular and skeletal systems. 7) Adjusting skin temperature and controlling the body temperature center. 8) Adjusting the electric potential of the skin and changing the electrical resistance of the body. 9) Ideally improving and regulating the immune function of the body. 10) Causing human beings to emit external qi and transfer energy.” – Dr. Yan Xin, Secrets and Benefits of Internal Qigong Cultivation

Qigong is a dynamic active process of biological regulation and transformation. A possible interpretation of this process is that jing (essence) converts into qi (breath) which manifests as sound, light, heat, electricity, magnetism, then its conductivity and smooth flow trained within the body’s meridian system to achieve bioenergetic circulation and skill, and beyond, converting into shen (spirit or awareness) and back down into qi and jing. Qigong is the ongoing process of matter transmuting up into spirit and spirit consolidating down into matter – the everlasting exchange of Heaven and Earth.

Qigong provides a map and working model for bioenergetic science and human biophysics (fluid and hormonal function and circulation, metabolism, microcirculation, etc). It also offers insight into our place in the universe and our connection to the greater cosmos.
